PATTERN DESIGN SET

Overview:
This pattern design set is one of the projects I did for my undergraduate design class — The Licensed Image: Development and Distribution. Our task was to create a set of unique patterns that reflected our personal style.
While I have always had a quirky cartoonish style, I am also a big fan of Renaissance decorative art. As a result, I wanted my pattern design to reflect both. Since the design I had envisioned was relatively complex, I first started out with a sketch on my notebook. I then transferred the sketch to Adobe Photoshop for further processing. To develop a playful, light-hearted atmosphere, I used cell shading and a large number of highly-saturated colors. I made the accompanying pattern more simplistic to juxtapose the complexity of the centerpiece.

Overall, it was a fun project that certainly helped me experiment and develop my personal style.

BEDDING DESIGN SET

Overview:
This is another project I did for The Licensed Image: Development and Distribution. The objective of this project was to develop a set of bedding design concept art. For inspiration, we took a field trip to Target. An observation I had was that adult beddings were typically monochrome or featured patterns that conveyed elegance or luxury. In contrast, children's beddings often had bold colors and diverse patterns, which was a style I personally preferred.

Therefore, the premise of my work was to create a bedding set for adults who did not like conventions and favored a more whimsical taste in furniture.
